Flood Art Mural Project
The paintings will be on display in stores, restaurants, and businesses throughout Cedar Rapids beginning Thursday, June 10 as part of the Cedar Rapids Downtown District's River Renaissance.
12 schools participated to create 16 paintings. The paintings are done with acryllic on canvas sized 4 feet by 5 feet. More details about the participants and schedule for display, as well as additional images, to come.
The goals of the project are:
- To provide an artistic outlet for young people to express their thougths and emotions about the flood;
- To allow the public to reflect by seeing this artistic response in public spaces; and
- To archive, in an artistic way, this tragic and historic event in our community.
